COMPOSER
Joachim Cooder is a composer/songwriter/producer/drummer who lives in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Mt. Washington. As a young boy he would watch his dad, guitarist Ry Cooder score films. He loved all of Walter Hill’s doomed seedy characters and the wide open spaces of Wim Wenders’ Paris, Texas. He spent many nights in his room listening to Tangerine Dream’s soundtrack to Thief and was struck by the strange, cold melancholy that can only be achieved by synthesizers and machines. A feeling that continues to inspire him. He collaborates regularly with his wife, the LA artist Juliette Commagere. The two of them also just produced Carly Ritter’s debut. He also put out his own record under the name Love On A Real Train. His most recent soundtracks include the documentaries “Spark: A Burning Man Story” and “Queens and Cowboys.”
